Accessibility statement

Built Studio wants everyone to be able to read and use builtstudio.co, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard, screen magnification, voice control, or other assistive technology.

We build accessibility into the site from the start, and we fix barriers as we find them or hear about them.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The World Wide Web Consortium publishes these guidelines, and they describe how to make web content work for people with a wide range of disabilities.

This statement describes our aim and the tests we have run so far. A full manual audit, the basis for a formal claim of conformance, is still to come.

We test the site as we build it:

• Automated checks. We scan every page with axe, an accessibility testing tool, at desktop and phone sizes, with the menu and the contact form open and closed. The scans find no violations of the WCAG 2.2 AA rules they cover.
• Keyboard. Every link, button, and form field works with a keyboard, and the element in focus shows a copper outline. A skip link leads past the navigation, and the menu and the contact form keep focus inside them while they are open.
• Contrast. We measure the contrast between text and its background, and the text meets the AA ratios.
• Motion. The site follows the reduced motion setting of your device. With the setting on, the animations stay still.
• Zoom and small screens. Each page fits a screen 320 pixels wide without sideways scrolling, so you can zoom a page to 400 percent and read it in one column.
• Images. Images that carry meaning, such as the recordings of client work, have text descriptions. Decorative photos, the sample product screens, and the dot patterns are hidden from screen readers, and the text around them carries the meaning.

Before the full site launches, we will test it with screen readers, VoiceOver on Mac and iPhone and NVDA on Windows, and on real devices in Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.

We know of these gaps:

• Screen reader tests. Our checks so far use automated tools and a keyboard. Tests with screen readers and on real devices come next, as How we test describes.
• Spam check. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a check from another company, to stop spam. If the check stops you, write to hello@builtstudio.co.
• Other sites. Links lead to the sites of our clients and partners. Their owners run those sites and set their own accessibility standards.

• what you tried to do, and what happened
• the device, the browser, and any assistive technology you use

We reply within five business days. We can also send you the information you need in another way, such as a plain text email or a call.

We update this statement when the site changes. The date at the top shows when the current version took effect.
